The season change is right around the corner and I know you are just itching to make some changes to your home. I get it too with every season change. Luckily for you though, not every room change needs a major overhaul. It could take just the slightest change to make your space feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Redecorating your home can be an exciting and fulfilling project. Whether you're looking to refresh a single room or give your entire space a makeover, here are some simple yet effective ideas to refresh your home without undergoing a major overhaul:

1. Define Your Style:

Before diving into decor, take some time to define your personal style. Are you drawn to minimalism, rustic charm, modern elegance, or a cozy cottage feel? Your style will serve as the foundation for all your decor decisions. Notice how I didn't say traditional, transitional, industrial or any other style names you see out there. Don't be afraid to mix different styles to create a unique and eclectic look. Combining modern pieces with vintage finds or contrasting textures can add character to your space. For me, style transcends beyond aesthetics and encompasses the overall feel of a room. So, when envisioning a space ask yourself: What kind of atmosphere do you desire?

2. Swap Out Textiles and Accessories: This is by far my favorite way to redecorate, especially since it happens more often than not haha! Change up the pillows, throws, and rugs in your living room and bedrooms to match the colors and textures of the upcoming season. For Spring and Summer I opt for lighter, brighter textiles and warmer, cozier ones in fall and winter. The more layers the better, especially in the cooler months. Also, don't listen to what everyone says-you can never have enough pillows 😆 Update small accessories like vases, bowls, and candles to reflect the colors and themes of the season. Think pastel shades and floral patterns for spring, and rich, jewel tones for fall. Switching out accessories such as vases, candles, and decorative objects can bring your decor together.

3. Select a Cohesive Color Palette:

You know exactly where I'm going with this one! The significance of establishing a harmonious color palette cannot be emphasized enough before embarking on any design changes. Fortunately, I have a collection of room design palettes available for purchase in my Palette Market, which can assist you in creating a cohesive and visually pleasing color scheme for your space. Choose a palette that complements your style and don't be afraid to have fun with bold patterns and colors! You can read more on this topic in my previous post here.

4. Furniture Arrangement:

This one is near and dear to my heart 🤭 I am constantly exploring various arrangements for my furniture, as I believe that it doesn't always have to remain confined to a single room (which drives the hubby crazy if I can't lift to move it haha). Sometimes, certain pieces can find a better visual and functional fit in a different space altogether. Think about the flow of your space and arrange furniture in a way that encourages easy movement and conversation. Experiment with different layouts to find the one that suits your lifestyle and space dimensions. Maintain a sense of continuity and flow between rooms, especially if you're redecorating multiple spaces. Consider how the colors, styles, and decor elements transition from one room to another.

5. Bring in Nature and Play with Lighting:

Incorporate elements from nature, like fresh flowers, potted plants, and branches with leaves or berries. In addition to improving indoor air quality, plants in your house offer a range of benefits. They can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of your space, adding a touch of natural beauty and creating a calming atmosphere. Don't have a green thumb? Not a problem because I have found Easyplant that offers a solution to watering. It's genius!

When it comes to lighting, there's no secret during the cooler months we often find ourselves in need of more lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. By changing the intensity and type of lighting in your home, you can transform the ambiance and create different moods to suit your needs and preferences. Opt for brighter, natural light during Spring and summer, and experiment with warmer and dimmer lighting during Fall and Winter evenings

6. Declutter and Clean:

The importance of decluttering and cleaning your space cannot be overstated. It not only helps create a visually appealing environment but also promotes a sense of calm and clarity. This gives you the opportunity to part ways with items that no longer serve a purpose or bring you joy. Clearing out the unnecessary clutter frees up physical space and allows for a fresh start. A clean slate will help you better envision the changes you want to make.
